[close] Dear Readers, I don't know about you, but time to time I feel thirst for knowledge and excitment that there are countless books out there that can satisfy my curiousity. But to understand the present we have to be educated from the past. The purpose of this book club is to go through basic topics and classic literary works, so that our knowledge doesn't have gaps, and we have a well-founded ground from where we can understand the present and work for a better future. The plan is to read one book each month and during this month having conversations about it. This is a democratic group so everyone can have book suggestions and can freely express their opinion about the readings. If you fancy the idea, join up, be active and let's plug the holes on the wall of our knowledge.

[close] Dear Readers Asalamualaikum, As part of our research for our Thinking Muslim Courses and our ongoing podcasts, The Thinking Muslim and A Muslim Mom we find ourselves reading as many books and essays about current trends of thinking and Islam. There is so much thought-provoking material out there! Alhumdulilah we've been discovering so much! We decided to start The Thinking Muslim Book Club, as we want to share what we're learning, encourage wide and challenging reading, and hear the thoughts of others. This book club is dedicated to exploring issues in some more depth and untangling the complexities of the world around us. The club was created after we began delivering our first pilot course in the UK (see our website for new courses). As part of the sessions, we regularly posted accompanying reading material and was prompted by many of our participants to formalise a book club. The plan is to periodically read a title and then to organise avenues for discussion. We aim to have at least two books ongoing. One for general books with an end of month discussion for brothers and sisters and one specifically for sisters, which may focus on a book of specific interest. [close] A group to discuss the books that have had the greatest influence on American conservatism and new books relating to American conservatism. This group has its origin in a series on www.donttread.com entitled the The Great Works of American Conservatism. The Great Works of American Conservatism series highlights the writings, speeches, and art that have had the most influence on American Conservatism from its inception through the present. American Conservatism is a one of a kind, unique political philosophy. It is a strange synthesis of philosophies respecting God, human dignity, liberty, the rule of law, order, individual freedom and equality. American Conservatism is a radically liberal philosophy. Unfortunately, today's progressives have moved away from this original American philosophy, and American conservatives must now defend our American system.

[close] This is a new book club for anyone interested in politics, who enjoys reading political non-fiction. We will discuss some of the biggest political books, mainly focusing on new books but with the occasional classic. The initial shelf may have a predominant focus on US and UK books but we are very open to expanding the focus - please share your suggestions.
