[close] Hello fellow book lovers and welcome to the Cedar Rapids Book Club! The goal of this group is to bring people together for social discussions on literature! We are a local group formed in 2019 as a couple friends getting together at a local coffee shop who then opened up the group to the community and have been steadily growing ever since! We meet once a month in person to discuss that month's pick then select upcoming picks based on recommendations from members present that month. We read a variety of genres and all genres are welcome! We encourage you all to join our monthly discussions when feasible, even if you are worried you have nothing groundbreaking to add or aren't able to finish the book in time. As long as you don't mind spoilers and enjoy the company of meeting new people, we'd love to have you! The group as a whole is very laid back, no stress necessary. [close] ...May 05, 2011 to June 04, 2011...I am pleased to be giving away two copies of my first published novel, The Ghosts Of Melrose. I am an independent author from rural Iowa and while the newly released book is rapidly growing in popularity at the independent bookstores and communities around me, I can't wait to hear what folks from other parts of the country think about it. It has been described as a page turning tear jerker...and I am hoping that people aren't crying because it is that bad! Anyhow, best of luck in this competition. [close] This book club is for current (and recently graduated) students at Louisa-Muscatine High School in Letts, Iowa. Since it's been difficult to schedule book club meetings and agree on books together in the past, this group will start out as a place for L-M students and teachers to recommend books to each other and discuss what they plan on reading next.
