[close] An informal group to share and discuss books, new and old and classic alike, on Asian American identity, histories, lives, society, and politics. Please add books that you've found meaningful, interesting, compelling, or useful to the bookshelf! When you add a book, please add it to one or more of the shelves ("identity", "fiction", "poetry", "politics", "theory", etc). If none of the shelves are applicable, go ahead a create a new one.

[close] We read books written by female authors and then we talk about them. All gender identities are welcome to become members of this group. All book selections will be written by female authors only, but cover a variety of genres and topics including but not limited to; feminism, gender politics, women of colour, biographies, award nominees, new releases, general fiction, science fiction, women around the world, and LGBTQIA. Let's mix it up! Please add your favorite books by women to the shelf so others can check them out too. Also, please participate when you can; the more the merrier! ♥

[close] The Boston Kinky Book Club meets once a month. We read a variety of books that are of interest to our community. Common subjects are sexuality, gender theory, queer theory, erotica, BDSM instructionals, memoirs, etc.

[close] Are you a feminist, interested in feminist history, interested in horror, or gothic literature? If you are interested in any of those, join this group. If you are interested in all of the above, you will love the female gothic. Female gothic literature is literature written by women that uses gothic worlds and settings to bring into question gender roles, expectations, and norms. The use of symbols and tropes is very significant in the female gothic. Traditional stories may have naively curious heroines, such as Mysteries of Upolpho. Other works such as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein play with character relations to show female struggles. There are layers and layers of depth to the female gothic, something worthy of endless conversations. Join this group to recommend female gothic literature, read some, or learn about the female gothic.
