[close] To celebrate Banned Books Week (Sept. 30 -Oct.6th) I wanted to start a group where we read books on the Banned Book list! This is to celebrate our right to read what we want! All information in the group page comes from ala.org and bannedbooksweek.org, I do not own any of the information!

Coming from a country that isn't too keen on candidness and the complete freedom of expression has allowed us to finally ask the question: Should books be banned? Every month we would engage in the reading of a book that has been banned by a government, library, association, or group in recent history and in current times. Reading books challenged or banned by society strengthens and opens up the mind. The books that society bans reflects greatly on society's flaws. So get a head first on your intellect and oppress censorship! WARNING: ALL BOOKS THAT ARE TO BE READ IN THIS GROUP HAVE BEEN BANNED AND/OR CHALLENGED BY GOVERNMENTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN CURRENT TIMES AND IN RECENT HISTORY. JOIN AT YOUR OWN RISK.

[close] Banned Literary Dept. is a monthly book club hosted by Briar Road, where we vote on and read thought-provoking, often challenged books that inspire curiosity, dialogue, and foster a diverse community of readers and new perspectives; bridging the worlds of fashion and literature. Through the Banned Literary Dept., we aim to foster a community that champions creative freedom, challenges convention, and advocates for positive change.
