Diana is an M/M romance author from New Zealand. She writes exclusively in the gay romance genre and has an extra-special place in her heart for high fantasy M/M. Most of her books are set in fictional, pseudo-medieval worlds populated by the likes of princes and swordsmen, bodyguards and magicians, and even the odd supernatural being. They tend to be light on filler (designed to be read in a matter of hours rather than days) and heavy on hurt/comfort goodness.

All of her published work, even books that are part of a series, are able to be read as standalone stories. They run the gauntlet from sweet to spicy in terms of sexual content but generally contain no triggers.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Mostly though, it was by snippe…moreI was inspired to write A Trust to Follow by a lot of things, not all of them necessarily directly related in any way. Mostly though, it was by snippets of imaginary scenes that I played and replayed over and over in my head until I found I liked them enough to write them down, in the hopes they would work in words and not just visual extracts. I often have trouble falling asleep after I go to bed, and when that happens, I usually close my eyes and play stories in my mind like I’m watching a movie. A few of those stories eventually become long enough and detailed enough over time (sometimes months or even years) that I’m finally inspired to try and write them down, and that’s what happened with A Trust to Follow.(less)

No, seriously – just do it. If you’ve got an idea in your head then write your story, however long or short it may turn out to be. Don’t bother planning every detail out from start to finish first, and try not to read over or edit anything before you feel you’re done with at least the rough draft. As crazy as it might sound, a lot of the plotting and the scene ordering and the filling in of important details, and in fact just about everything but the core story itself, generally comes after you’ve already written most of it.(less)
