Melissa I agree. I think keeping Pearl was more about fulfilling the wish of Warren to be the baby's uncle than about a dream of motherhood. Warren was such a part of Mia and when he died, I'm sure she felt tremendous guilt about having quarrelled with him. I believe she felt the only way to keep a piece of her family in light of all this tragedy was to have Pearl as her family. Mia was young, she was harshly judged by her parents (at this time many parents would have been judgemental of the situation); I think perhaps this baby would be her last connection to family and would also not be capable of judgement.

Just look at choosing her last name to be Warren. She could have changed her name to anything. She could have been more deceptive to hide from the Ryan's but she didn't want to lose her brother again.
