Nicole Wilkinson It's not a mental health problem or a disorder - it's a type of neurodiversity. Your brain working differently than other peoples doesn't make your brain wrong, it just means that the neurotypical world isn't built well for how your brain works. There are downsides to all kinds of things, that doesn't make them a mental health problem or a disorder.
NOTE: I am also neurodiverse, and I also struggle with fitting some of the parts of my neurodiverse brain into the neurotypical world and seek therapy and coping mechanisms for it. But that's not because I have a disorder, that's because the world isn't accessible to a diversity of brains.
