The we were the AIs working in Tim’s office and in all the devices listed in chapter Twenty-Five such as fridges, ovens, etc. Did you notice the unusual chapter numbering. The chapters of WE were always spelled out, not numerals.
What I don't get is WHY Tim would let cobot Abbie and Danny out of his sight after revealing that he killed the real Abbie?? He says all that & then just lets cobot Abbie and Danny go to the beach? I'm so confused.
The ending is very confusing. Denise's answer helps but I'm not feeling any closure.
Thank you Denise. Yes, this was my understanding as well, but it definitely helps to see it summarized like this. As for the "we" it is my understanding this was referencing the enteritely of Tim's company, including non-human beings. There was a line that said "those of us who were human, and those who were not..." (I'm paraphrasing).
I think Mike knew the real Abbie was dead because Tim told him so they formated a plan where cobot Abbie would kill herself but save Danny by having jenny, lisa, and charles come rescue bim. She knew that was the only way to save her son. We dont know this because we are only allowed to know what cobot abbie is thinking because of cobot tim being able to read her mind. The part where the rescue is planned is hiddeb
@Wendy, I did NOT notice the chapter numbering - good eye! But yes, I agree about the AIs being the "we." Otherwise, I agree with @Denise's assessment of the ending.
I"m so happy I wasn't the only one who was really confused at the end, especially by chapter 26 :-) Thanks for clearing up my questions.

So will Charles Carter, Jenny and Lisa have to keep Danny hidden ?
Hi, I understood the collective "we" as the electronic/digital AI learning of all the bytes etc. running through the web, appliances, computers...anything that uses internet or robotic technology, as one collective conscience or being. At one part near the end, when the viewpoint of the story flips back to "we", it says that they started to sit back and watch as the events with the robot Abbie were unfolding once they understood what was going on (Tim was using robot Abbie to look for the real Abbie but it was really to take Danny away to "fix" him). I may have misunderstood something along the way but this was my take on it.
