I don't want to be David Goggins either, but that doesn't mean we can't learn from him, or adopt some of the perspectives and ways of living to enhance our own lives. It's too bad someone would be so judgmental without knowing what goes on in his mind. Can we really say that he has never ever(?!) felt joy or happiness in his life? Can a claim get more absurd than that? Or imply that he cares too little about his child and family life, just because of our personal interpretation of the limited information we have about who he is as a whole and how his totality of life has been?
As someone who has been on the hamster wheel, I think Goggins is describing a way of being that takes achievement off the hamster wheel and makes it an intrinsic development - an authentic inner experience... As for the child you mention, he does say it's his ex-wife's child from a previous relationship.
