I am very glad to see that Buzzfeed has picked up on this. In order to get this info out early. I had to pose a question which is why I used Cussy Mary as my question but I was really more concerned about the fact that I thought "The Giver of Stars" was going to get all the attention and this book was going to be overlooked which is the way it was going until Buzzfeed picked up the similarities. I don't know if Moyes' did steal any of the information but I think it is very unfortunate that she has gotten all the attention when Richardson's book was actually out first and appeared to be an historical novel with the added very interesting information on the "Blue People. I haven't read "The Giver of Stars" yet but I'm fairly sure it is much more of a romantic story than historical.

There seem to be enough differences not to make it "plagiarism," maybe the same magazine with recommendations for babies was "the same" because that was the only one at that time? True, both women getting married in October seemed a bit odd...surely Margery could get married in September? I dunno...I'm going to give Moyes the benefit of the doubt. She's a well known author who surely would not DARE do something so stupid. However...how her publishing company did not know of Richardson's book is a little impossible to believe
I've seen many comments on this whole deal and have commented myself, actually I think I started some of this when I first got the info from Good Reads that Moyes' book was coming out. As time as gone on and more comments were made and more research was done on this, I do feel the Publishing Company was the most at fault but since we don't know the whole story about it, I just want Richardson's book to get the most publicity but that isn't going to happen. I have not read Moyes' book yet, but feel that it is probably a little more chick lit than history. Really did love the info that Richardson found and that is why I recommended it to friends.
Pam, I'd sure like to know who the leads will be in the movie that is supposedly coming out. Your "chick lit" comment does ring a LITTLE bit true. It's very romantic with "handsome" men and nether regions fluttering. Not quite as blatant as a Linda Howard or Susan Brown novel though.
