Caroline The health care system in France is very different from that of the US. Hospitalisation in France isn't all that expensive.

Judy Lindow Often people are without insurance because they are disorganized, mentally ill, and/or don't know what their entitlements are; they're not aware of the services, can't do the paperwork, etc.

Judy Lindow When I lived in Germany, we had a lot of benefits - but we also had MUCH more paperwork, forms, procedures, and people to get past than in the US. There was a lot of problem solving that is tough for some.

Alexander If she was paid under the table the family would not have gotten a letter from the tax department.
