Laura I thought the insect foreshadowing was way too heavyhanded and thought it was a red herring. I first thought maybe Tate murdered him, but then settled on Chase's wife (someone else who would want the necklace gone from his neck.)

Julier Bre, I agree with you about Kyra's motivation and actions!

Cathy It is all about survival and not following her mother's end.....

Stacey And with the necklace missing, you knew it had to turn up somewhere and that would be the big "reveal"

Elizabeth I actually missed the insect thing being foreshadowing and read it mostly as her being observant and knowledgeable of nature while she compared gender roles in nature to that of men and women, and how females in nature naturally dominated. As I contemplate the authors use of these thoughts to serve as foreshadowing, I also think that this was a way Kya convinced herself that what she planned to do actually fit with nature.

Kathryn I knew there was something about the insects but didn't connect. I thought it was likely one of the men (Tate, or her brother) but wasn't really considering that it was them. The insect foreshadowing makes sense now.

Rachel This all makes sense to me! I agree about the insect foreshadowing being heavy handed, but it makes sense that this was part of her process as she figured out how to defend herself. I found the actual ending a bit of a let down in that we didn't end up being in on what happened exactly, though the poem reveals it in a subtle way- it was a little anti-climactic. However, I still LOVED the book!!

Jeanne I think that the sheriff had it exactly right -- the timing was tight but she knew the tides and she was one of the disguised people -- probably the man.
