Kelsey I just finished Vita Nostra! It was very good. It reminded me a lot of Lexicon by Max Barty and also The Magicians by Lev Grossman.

Lois Young I'm glad you enjoyed it! My copy of "The Library at Mount Char" is on its way, and I'm looking forward to reading it. I bought both "The Burned Tower" and "The Scar" by both authors! I'm hoping we'll get more translations soon.

As for the comparisons, I'll have to add "Lexicon," "The Magicians," and "The Night Circus" to my reading list because other readers compare both books to those. Afterwards, I'm going to determine whether or not "1Q84" is similar to all those books mentioned.

Do you have any other recommendations?

Kelsey I’d love to be friends and find out what you think of 1Q84. I’ve come across it quite a bit, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’ll check out “The Scar” and “The Burned Tower.” Recommendation-wise, I really enjoyed Naomi Novik’s “Spinning Silver” and “Uprooted,” but they read more like magical adult fairy tales than fantasy action.

Kelsey Also just saw you’re reading “Rosewater” and that’s next on my list! Are you liking it so far?

Lois Young It's very interesting and different. I'm really enjoying it! It's definitely in my Top Ten Best Science Fiction and Fantasy Books of 2018!

Kelsey Ooooooh! I’m starting it next. “Dark Matter” was my most recent and it rolled along, so I want something gripping to keep up the momentum.
