Ivan Smith Theresa, I couldn’t agree more. I have read each novel and his essays. Ondaatje is magnificent in his storytelling and all of those silences and nuanced moments he captures so beautifully and artfully without seeming to try. I love this man’s mind and his work. Coetzee and Ondaatje, McCarthy are the most satisfying of writers and I feel bereft but also enriched when the novel is finished. Your comment is perfect. I love Warlight and the first time the word is mentioned in the text, I felt that frisson of insight that Ondaatje’s work always has on me. Wonderful writer.

Theresa Kennedy He sure is. And then of course there are only a few writers that I will read again and again, and he is one of them. The others are Josephine Hart, Ian McEwan, Darcey Steinke, Cormac McCarthy, Daphne Du Maurier and of course F. Scott Fitzgerald...a strange assortment but some of my favorites, among so many writers. Thanks for your comment Ivan...
