Beau Schutz I recommend that, rather than skipping, you do what I call "lightly reading" the parts that are just overly technical for you - I do it a lot when complex mathematical formulae are included in books that I read. I try to get at least some sort of gist of what is being explicated and I sort of file it inmy brain. Sometimes I read those types of passages more lightly than other times, depending upon how arcane and abstruse they may seem to me. In Damasio's book he actually does a fairly rigorous job of breaking down and explaining as clearly as practicable his technical sections. I say give it a good try and I think you'll get through and catch most of what he's talking about.
