A good parent gives their children the tools necessary to be a successful adult. helicopter parenting is an exceedingly bad idea. Censorship of ideas such as you suggest leaves your children ignorant of things that they would be better abal to avoid if they were aware of them. My sons would tell you that as a parent I was firm and fair. They are young men in their own right now and I'm proud of them and their life skills. Only you can measure the maturity of your children, just try not to stifle it.
