I figured the details were too specific not to be based on some kind of truth. Really enjoyed your book - glad I stumbled across it. I love your image of writing fiction as a collage. Sometimes when I notice an odd detail or someone says something memorable (or ridiculous), I think, "remember this and use it," but sometimes when I'm working images I've long forgotten find their way onto the page. That's exactly what it is - a collage - mixing ideas and images from lots of places. Great metaphor - thanks!
