You're right they are different - Xmen is at least well written. This book feels like Malfi was picking adjectives out of a hat.
When you think about, nothing is really original these days. I mean, for example look at all the vampire & werewolves romances out there before and after Twilight became popular...All this is, is a game to see who can write something more original than anyone else and have it published to make millions....
