Gunner, I was you! I HAVE BEEN THERE. (No, literally, I asked Mary the same basic question last year at Worldcon, and she gave me a similar answer.) And then I read the Glamourist Histories and they were awesome and you should give them a try.

Tanya The book covers are pretty, but too girly and romancy for me. They're not the kind of book covers that look like the kind of book I'd like to read. But since I'd read the short stories and liked MRK's voice and ideas, I tried the books and I love them. The covers still don't look like the kind of book I'm likely to pick up, but that doesn't matter anymore.

Tracy Johnson Okay, OKAY! I was resisting the glamourist histories for the same reasons. But after reading this thread, I want to give them a try. I really like MRK's style in the previously mentioned short stories. Thanks.
