Catherine I wondered this as well. That was the most confusing part to me.

Carol Irvin Maybe we should ask her!

message 3: by Carol (new)

Carol Irvin In the book, in the beginning it said Baltimore.

message 4: by Julie (new)

Julie Sterner Baltimore is where Judy’s adoptive mother gave birth to her stillborn child, setting into motion Judy’s adoption via Georgia Tann.

Carol Irvin Thanks Julie for clearing this up!

message 6: by Amanda (new)

Amanda The doctor pulled aside the father after the still born death and said "I know a lady in TN" Which is how they got connected with Tann.

Carol Irvin Thanks!

Karla ahhhhh. now this all makes sense. wow.

message 9: by Joan (new)

Joan Queenie gave birth at the hospital in Memphis. Re-read chapter 1: the Baltimore doctor tells the father of Christine, who has given birth to a dead child, "I know of woman in Memphis": this is Miss Tann, from whom Christine's father buys a baby, the supposedly dead girl twin to whom Queenie gave birth in Memphis..

Marissa Rapone Okay so was Judy given to the Seviers? Or did she reunite with her sisters later in life?

message 11: by Renee (new)

Renee Little The twins were carried away. Judy was not born in Baltimore she was carried to Baltimore

MameB Thank you for this clarification; but just the fact that several of us have asked this question shows that it was confusing for the reader. Could have been better connected for us.

El En Agreed! Confusing! I just finished the book last night, and these comments are helping me sort it all out. May tells Avery and Trent that Judy was just a friend, which seemed untrue - but that also added to the confusion.

Carol Irvin True that...
