Darlene I did read it after I sent you the post, but thank you for answering my inquiries- you're the first author I have ever contacted but I felt compelled to do so due to your absolutely brilliant epic- I look forward to more of your work in the future- you and Santino have a fan for life!

message 2: by Em (new)

Em Good question-I always wondered about a bionic eye too;)

message 3: by Darlene (new)

Darlene I know, right? If they can reconfigure Hsin's entire body after Monterrey, what's one eye? I can almost see Hsin using this as a bargaining chip to return to the Agency- that and an uninterrupted month of down time in Vermont for the both of them every year!!

message 4: by Em (new)

Em Yeah, what's one little bionic eye eh? It so has to happen:D

message 5: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Agreed - Em, I am with you!! And just imagine his self confidence being restored to be able to once again engage in missions with Hsin at his side (sigh).......
It is simply drool-worthy!!

message 6: by Em (new)

Em Exactly!

message 7: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Great minds think alike, Em....

message 8: by Em (new)

Em Sure do!

message 9: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Hey Em, since we both loved this series, what else have you enjoyed reading? I would love some suggestions since I am now suffering from ICoS withdrawal.....
I am open to explore all genres - I just love a great story!! Thanks in advance for your considerations!!

message 10: by Em (new)

Em Ok, I only read m/m or epic fantasy. I like paranormal/BDSM/slave/historical etc etc. Check out my 'read' shelf, I think there are 400 or so m/m ones on there to give you a few ideas or you can PM me with the type of thing your looking for and I'll have a look for you;)

message 11: by Darlene (new)

Darlene You're the best! Thanks, will check out your read shelf; we are alike on everything except paranormal and historical- did you have a favorite ?

message 12: by Ais (new)

Ais Hey! Sorry I'm so slow to reply (luckily Em is awesome and was already talking to you). I started this thing where my computer only gives me 30 minutes a day on social media before I'm blocked so I've been doling out my time lol

Aww I'm honored that you contacted us, then! And seriously, thank you for being so awesome and reading our story and also writing to us. I'm not sure if you saw but at our Q&A there were a lot of questions asked--maybe you'll be interested in reading some of those answers in case any of the other questions ever came up in your mind too. It's here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Anyway this is a side note but since you asked for recommendations--I know you weren't asking me but I want to pimp my two favorite M/M stories because they aren't as well known.

If you're specifically looking for M/M, I recommend the Raised by Wolves series by W.A. Hoffman (starts with the book Brethren), and All For the Game series by Nora Sakavic (The Foxhole Court and The Raven King are the two books out so far; the last book is in editing I think -- https://www.goodreads.com/series/1058... )

I love the hell out of Raised By Wolves, mostly because it encompasses so many things I normally don't particularly love, yet somehow it makes me love it in that story. It's an epic gay pirate historical fiction series, and it's definitely not the norm for most types of books. I've known people who just really fucking love it like I do (including my heterosexual male friend who doesn't read m/m typically) and then other people who just couldn't get into it at all despite being m/m fans. So I'm not sure if you'll end up adoring it like I do or just not like it that much like others, but I think you should definitely give it a try.

The Foxhole Court/Raven King is another series that I love in part because it makes me love something I don't normally like. That series isn't at all like ICoS as far as the plot or any of that but I think someone once said the series is sort of like if you took the ICoS characters and the feel of the Agency, and put it in a made-up-college-sport context. It's kind of a dark, twisted series and I really love it. The characters are very flawed but in the best ways, I think.

Also here on our group there's a thread for M/M and LGBTQ book recommendations. Maybe you'll find something there you're interested in too? https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Lastly, in our old forum there's also a list of recommendations... actually just go here and see if you want to check out any of the other threads too. http://sonnyais.fr.yuku.com/forums/8/...

message 14: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Ais, you are worth your weight in CHOCOLATE!!!! I will check out your suggestions- I have only recently discovered the M/M genre, so I am a virginal 55-year-old reader of sorts but am open to a good read, no matter what the MC's tendencies, and it is not wasted on me at all that you took the time to answer- I am touched beyond my ability to respond in gratitude to you!

message 15: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Em- you ROCK!! Thanks for responding!! I will add your suggestions to my list as well. Happy reading!

message 16: by Em (new)

Em No problem Darlene, give me a shout if you need anything else and thanks Ais, I'll add your suggestions to my pile as well:)

message 17: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Before I forget!! I would like to interject my own personal faves for consideration to you - M/M with a story that I thought was an interesting read, although very dark-
1) The Flesh Cartel Series (Dark M/M)
2) Muffin (M/M- WIP)
3) Waiting in the Throes (Dark M/M- a WIP)(less)

message 18: by Em (new)

Em I've read all of Flesh Cartel apart from the last book I think it was. Need to get to that:)
Muffin? Who is the author, I'll check it out.
I've not seen waiting in the throes before, I'll give that one a go:)

I see you've read the Gamble Everything books - loved them! Crazy about daddy kink;)

message 19: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Em, I'm 55- I didn't even know what "Daddy Kink" was!!! That little ditty just about burned my corneas!!!!

message 20: by Em (new)

Em Haha, oh god, I love it!

message 21: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Good Morning Em & Ais - HAPPY FRIDAY!!! Whoo Hooo!!!
Have a wonderful weekend, Ladies!!

message 22: by Ais (new)

Ais You too, Darlene!

Thank you for being so wonderful and giving all the recommendations to Darlene, Em!

And to both of you--if you end up liking Raised By Wolves, I will feel quite content lol I tend to love things that are a little bit different that other people around me aren't as into, so then I start trying to convert people to my One True Loves. It's successful with some people, and completely unsuccessful with others XD Which never bothers me because we all have our own interests, and so we gravitate toward different things. And that's quite a lovely part of humanity, and something I'd never like to see change.

Incidentally, Darlene-- if it helps, I've seen people in the past compare ICoS to The Administration series by Manna Francis (first book: Mind Fuck) along with the Special Forces series that Em already recommended. You could see if you like them too. They are very popular series in m/m so you are likely to find fans of them all over if you get into them and need someone to talk to.

message 23: by Ais (new)

Ais OH, and I forgot to say--haha being told I'm worth my weight in chocolate made me ridiculously happy XD

message 24: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Thanks Ais;, I have actually downloaded all of your suggestions and am reading Special Forces currently. I so appreciate the time invested in this manner- of all the things you have to do in the course of your busy day, I take these fleeting moments you spend to reach out to me in responses to heart.
Much appreciation and have a wonderful weekend.

message 25: by Ais (new)

Ais It's no trouble at all :) I like talking to people, so mostly I appreciate that you aren't annoyed with me lol I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! <3

message 26: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Annoyed? Me? I am enthralled...
To communicate with someone who writes so eloquently is beyond my wildest dreams- I am happy to be among thevthroes of your appreciative fans.

message 27: by Ais (new)

Ais You're the sweetest, Darlene, seriously! I really appreciate how kind you are. I'm wishing you the absolute best <3

message 28: by Darlene (new)

Darlene You, too-Thanks

message 29: by Em (new)

Em I'm glad you decided to make a start on Special Forces Darlene, that and ICoS are my absolute favourites. It's quite a ride but well worth it! Let me know how you get on.

message 30: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Will do, Em- I am already wearing my hip boots just from reading the first 100 pages (giggles)! Will keep you posted!! Thanks so much, my literary friend!

message 31: by Em (new)

Em You're welcome. Persevere with the series and it'll become one of your're favourites too I bet. Still love Dan and Vadim:)

message 32: by Darlene (new)

Darlene I trust you- it's a rough ride thus far, but this genre is unknown territory for me; when I think back to how I thought ICoS would be boring since I had never read the subject matter before (M/M, Conspiracy Theory, Government Agency, Assassins), but I trusted the Goodreads audience and persevered; it was the best reading experience that I had ever had. My BF is reading it now- she is an 11-7 nurse, so every time she reads a milestone in ICoS in between dispensing meds, she texts me all through the night (in all CAPS) and like me, is blown away with this genre. I look forward to the moment when this, too, hooks me and I am caught up in its web of intrigue, adventure and character development- I may be slow, but like a determined tortoise, I intend to push forward until I am floating adrift in the sea of Testosterone panting for a life preserver!!!! Hey, by the way- what are you reading now??? Happy Reading, Em! Happy writing, Ais!!!!

message 33: by Em (new)

Em I always just used to read epic fantasy, then moved onto m/m fantasy and now I read all genres of m/m. I can't remember the specific point in SF when I became hooked but it was somewhere in the mountains! I'm currently reading https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8... - great so far:)

message 34: by Darlene (new)

Darlene I admire Rachel Haimowitz's writing and have the entire Flesh Cartel series and have Anchored on standby to read at a later date; believe it or not FSOG started me reading and I haven't looked back since- the world is my literary oyster and reading is my ultimate escapism ! My son brought me an iPad and I have about 150 books to date downloaded on it- I never leave home without it!

message 35: by Darlene (new)

Darlene HAPPY MONDAY!
Just a follow up with my progress with reading Special Forces - In a word?
W-O-W
I didn't think I would get into it as much as I did this weekend, but when I did - (whew)......
Just stick a fork in me......
I'm DONE. (lol)

message 36: by Em (new)

Em I have the last Flesh one to go! FSOG? What's that? I'm the same, I have to read every day, if i don't i get cranky, it helps me to switch off and de-stress.
yup, you can't but love SF can you. I cried tears over those books and still think of Dan at least once a day, god I love that man!

message 37: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Hahahahaha-
FSOG= Fifty Shades of Gray!!! My first venture into erotica!!! I am actually rereading the integral parts (my thoughts have to process something of this magnitude) as I am only half way into book one, but already - WHAT A RIDE!!!! I also downloaded the sequel today as well, so I have a lot of ground to cover but thanks again for the tip!! My BFF is going crazy over Boyd & Hsin's angst as we speak and texting me like CRAZY!!!!

message 38: by Em (new)

Em Haha of course! Never read it. I do lots of rereading, it' a must for the good parts:) I couldn't put ICoS down, read until 2am most nights, then again before work!
