Rosie Obviously that is your opinion, but in mine, I think that teenagers can understand this book. Teenagers are able to be intelligent too, I don't see a reason why they shouldn't understand the complexity.

Nic Some things only come with years of life experience.

Nic Many Teenagers are very intelligent but it's a scientific fact that their brains aren't fully developed yet.

Nic And hopefully they don't know too much about marriage and infidelity (the book's major topics)

Rosie Yes, maybe not, but my personal opinion is that books are one way of learning. I don't see how it follows that because they have not married yet they cannot read about marriage and infidelity. Additionally, I think it's is extremely unlikely that anyone would take either Nick or Amy's actions as any kind of role model. If they enjoy the book, as I did, and found it interesting, then I don't see the problem.

There are definitely some teenagers that I would never recommend the book to, some just aren't mature enough. But I think, personally, that some teenagers are old enough to understand complex themeing. They analyse complex books and plays at school, after all.
