I think Gilead is really beautiful, but then I'm as old as Ames anyway! Housekeeping I found quite tough, and LILA is sad and painful but so gentle with it. It has the slowness of real life; things take time to work out.
You're probably right about real life being slow,,,,which may be the reason I want a little more "action" in my reading material. As for you being as old as Ames, I can probably match you year for year and raise you a couple - LOL
Sandie, had my 80th last Mon and I live n a small English country town where there's a small but full-of-life Christian community amid rather sleepy townsfolk. So I'm interested in the people of Gilead. I agree this book seems disjointed but Lila's thoughts and reactions had a lot to try and make sense of. All the best . . .
