I was so incredibly disappointed when I got to that point.

Agreed. That whole part was mind numbingly awful. I would recommend skipping it all and picking up again at the chapter about that Chtaeh (Sp?). You won't miss anything, as the story picks up right where it left off, which makes this all doubly pointless.
So awful. From a tabletop gamer, I said it was like reading a dude making up sex magic positions and forcing us to all suffer as he describes his experience. It was like Tom Bombadil, goes nowhere and does nothing and now we have to choke on it.
That's exactly it how I felt too. I don't think I can be bothered to finish it.
I hated the 200 fae pages but do read on. It does get interesting again. I stalled out at the fae section.
