Lisa Maxwell "When he was eighteen, he'd found out that he was adopted. Nobody had ever told him. His adoptive father was a sergeant in the Memphis Police Department, and I don't know that they were ever very close, but when Granddad learned he'd been lied to all his life, that was the last straw. he joined the army the next day and never talked to his adoptive parents again." Sunny Shore Sorry, Trent, Sr.

Audrey What confuses me a bit with Stevie/Trent Sr is that he did not remember the orphanage or before he was adopted and yet somehow he remembers May? Or maybe he didn't actually remember her?

message 5: by Deborah (new)

Deborah He just doesn't talk about the orphanage. It never says he didn't remember it. But he was young when he was adopted so he probably doesn't remember it.

R Stevie was adopted by a sergeant in the police force. I imagine it wasn't for the money but as a payoff by Tan for the police's cooperation. Trent Sr. didn't know he was adopted till after his adoptive mother died - I think the assumption was he was too young to remember the time in the orphanage.

Rachel Stevie was around 3 years old when he was at the orphanage for three months. It's likely he forgot by the time he was old enough to connect the dots. He was adopted by a police sergeant and they do say Trent thought it was odd that he was adopted because his parents didn't have money for an expensive adoption, ie it was likely he was given to the police sergeant for his silence.
