Well, I think the dream sequence at the beginning of THE LIKENESS is profound. It sets the stage for the story....and is a lovely set of "words." I often just read the "come-on"....it's like visiting Mandalay again....
I love that dream sequence too, and I hate dream sequences! I skip and eye roll... It was beautifully written and it drew me into the story as if I had been hypnotized!
I feel like it maybe worked so well because it was a flashback ?
