History is also full of atrocities too. In my humble opinion, avoiding all these issues leads to an incomplete and inauthentic world.
we are all guilty at times of having dark, bizarre, weird and sick thoughts at times, uncontrollable, but ok if not acted upon! imagination in literature uses part of this as do dreams, especially lucid ones, embrace the words and worlds and realize even though they are powerful and dark it is no real reflection of the author.
