I've recommended and given the books as gifts as well. No more.

A wise choice. I will not recommend the books to anyone and I'll be downloading it from the internet. Dylan your ignorance is beyond even ridiculous.
Dylan, you imply that I'm not entitled to it. If I knew he was going to put off the book I wouldn't have bought it. He shouldn't have gone around saying it was done and committed so many peoples hard earned dollars to it. Would you buy a house from a builder if they told you they'd finish it "someday"? Would you go to dinner at a restaurant if everything was "ready when it's ready"? "Sorry sir, your main course isn't done. You can pay for what you've eaten and leave. Frankly we don't care." There's a social contract you sign as an author when you start publishing series and get people to commit their time to reading them. George R. R. Martin is doing the same thing, sitting on his dragon money. If you can't publish a series, don't make it a series. Make it individual novels and call it a day. Right now he just sold us a book without an ending and said "meh, I'll get back to you on that."
