sldr It was a grind for YOU. Not a very objective review

Jens Rushing Yes, this is a person who doesn't like books, please ignore

Christopher Barclay The book takes 8 hours to read, like, total. It's beautifully written and deeply empathetic. Then again, it isn't for everyone.

Brigitte As someone how does enjoy reading, this book was a struggle and a grind. There are better books to spend time with.

Jen KV DannyDale and Brigitte; did you read it in hardcopy or Kindle? A friend having trouble with it sent me a screen shot from her Kindle copy. It didn't match the same passage in my printed book; it read like a bad translation, maybe back-translated from another language to English by machine. Please check your text and let us know?

Ben Daunter Life is too short NOT to read anything by Virginia Woolf, to read VW especially MD gives you a greater view of your individual existence. But yes it is not for the faint-hearted.

Patvids This difference of opinion alone may make this a good choice for a book club. I hadn't read it before, and thought it was excellent. It's definitely a 20th century classic
