I am still kind of rooting for Cal since he's been with Mare all the way (UNTIL THE EPILOGUE), and maybe he might have a chance?! I still will never forgive those two brothers
I am good with Cal, but there needs to be a major scene where he realizes how BADLY he messed up. To suggest she be his consort and just deal with it, plus drop her cause for whatever he thinks he can pull together... BIG selfish move CAL. He told her he'd pick her, always. He had his chance, and he didn't. He walks out angry then 5 minutes later, literally, he's decided he's King.
He's throwing his lot with the Old Families who are giving him lip service and because he is blinded by having King placed before him again he can't see beyond his pride. I'm okay with flawed characters who need to grow. Cal really needs an event to make him grow.
Still, in the book of Love, that was absolute betrayal- mind, body and spirit. Mind= 2nd rate citizen as a consort. Body= consort. Spirit = leave her cause for equality. I DONT KNOW HOW this relationship will come back from this without something heavy. Just a thought.
