As a faithful Amy Lane reader, I just naturally assume that virtually all your stories not set near the Everglades or Mount Rushmore (see your screenplay for "North by Northwest"),
What the hell happened to the rest of my comment? About learning about Sacto, CA, and environs, through your stories? Has Trump ruined EVERYTHING??
LOL-- I remember that scene in North by Northwest... and the thing is, I'm a remarkably unobservant person. The details I capture are really meant to get the people more than the mood. I am forever surprised at how a region shapes a person's reactions to the world around him or her. And, well, I know my Sacramento natives. (Sometimes. Sometimes they're as alien as any other human.)
I really feel I know Sacramento, and its surrounding areas, a heckuva lot better through your stories than through my civics class visit (from SoCal) to the Capitol. Although, to be honest, I spent/spend far more time with you than I ever spent with AP Social Studies.
LOL-- well, my boys are prettier than most politicians ;-)
