Cookie The problem I have with this is it is that for me, Mac's story ended in Shadowfever. However she seems to take the center stage again in Burned. I don't want to read about her. I want to read about Dani. I want to read about Ryodan. To boot Dani right off her own book is kind of insulting to both Dani and her fans. I just hope that the synopsis is just the publisher's scheme to sell more books, because I love me some Dani Mega O'Malley. Haha

Sally I have no doubt you'll get what your looking for. Karen told us at the book signing in Sarasota that she felt that Ryodan would eclipse Barron's. That can't happen if he s thrown on a back burner. I'm excited to see where this goes. I wasn't excited about Dani through all five books and thought she was a pain in tha a**. I thought I wouldn't like ICED but I LOVED it and now I keep all options open. Let's face it, the lady can write.

Maddy You don't understand why we are upset because you could care less where the POV is coming from. We are not disappointed by Karen's writing. The reason Dani fans are upset is because Dani will no longer be a primary, she is a secondary. Karen said this herself. She also said Dani's story would be condensed. We're just upset that a character we love dearly, will no longer be center stage. I don't see any logical disconnect in that, we love Dani, Dani gets less book time, we get disappointed. Makes sense.

Sally Point taken Madeline, I never meant to come across as insensitive to anyone feelings. I was actually quite surprised when I saw there were even ratings on a book that hasn't been released yet. I expect to see that a week or two before a book makes it's debut due to publishers releasing ARC's but 5 months before? I don't understand why any book can be rated before anyone has had a chance to read it.

Cassandra KM worked so hard to get all of us to give Dani a chance before Iced came out. I just feel like we took that chance with her, really really bonded with her in Burned, only to see the Mac/Barons people screamed so loud, KM put them back front and center, in Dani's storyline. I have been with KM from day one, and have enough faith in her as a great writer to know the book with be decent, but I am so sad that the book won't star Dani, in Dani's series, and that is a true bummer for me. Esp since she only gets what 1 more book after this? So yes Dani suffered, and suffered dearly. I really think after all the flack we gave KM about Dani as a main before we got to know her, really pushed KM to drop her as a main, and that really sucks, because KM did a fantastic job, in my opinion, making me like Dani far more than I did Mac. By the end of the last series I really disliked Mac something fierce. Sorry but it's true.

Fresiako Yeah, I just feel it's such a waste of such great character potential! Imagine how much further she could of explored Dani's character! Mac's character was so dull, and cliche in comparison. :/

Sally Cassandra, there are two more books after Burned so hopefully everyone will get what they're hoping for in the end. Two books definitely leave the door open for plenty of Dani.

message 8: by Tracym (new)

Tracym i have read the book and am greatly disappointed in the way she went with this book. I want these three books to be about Dani/Jada and it wasn't. I wish that there was an internal struggle inside Dani for her body and fractured mind. Why the hell can Mac fight with the dang Book but Dani and Jada can't have an internal free for all a Battle Royal over control of her own self. Dani would never just give up. I think she let her fans push her in a direction that she didn't want to go so that they were more comfortable with her age and things were more age appropriate. BS i wrote a full review I rant there

Queenbee Well it is out. I did wait. Burned is BUTT with a capital B

Sally I loved Burned! It was great having Mac and Jericho back and seeing so many povs. I thought it would be confusing but it wasn't. I loved the insight into all of them. I loved Iced and Dani. I miss the 14 year old dani and her swagger but I loved the direction KMM went in and after I read Burned I went back and read Iced again and can see the foreshadowing, which she is the Queen of. Those of you who say Dani would never do something, excuse you, who knows the characters better than the author?

Sally In many of the critical responses on this thread, I'm hearing a great deal of "I wanted more Dani", "I wanted this I wanted that". Maybe I'm alone in this but when I open a book, I have no expectations of anyone BUT the author to give me an amazing story. A place to escape for a few hours. I've never read a book and got angry at the author about the outcome. If so, I would have stopped after half of George R.R. Martin's book. I don't understand how those complaining don't see the story she's setting up for us. This is the same writer who has captivated us with 14 other books. You might not have liked this direction, I happened to love all the POV ' S and gasped in shock many times, but have some faith that in the end, she'll pull it all together for you, like she always does.
