"Life After Life" was one of the weirdest books I've ever read.
Tina, I'm glad you enjoyed Life After Life. I do like the authorKate Atkinson's style, but will try reading "A God in Ruins," since I didn't care for "Life after Life." I have the Invisible Bridge on my list as well :)
Life After Life was one of the most disappointing books I've read in recent years. I've already forgotten the main character's name but I found her annoying from beginning to end. That's the true test of most books: If you can't remember a darn thing about it after only a year, it wasn't worth reading.
I liked Life After Life. It was my first one of hers I have read, and I liked the concept and the characters.
After Time Magazine & Entertainment Weekly both said it was the best book of 2015 I gave in and bought it. The concept could have been interesting but I didn't enjoy it. Seems like if I get if from the library I love it but if I buy it I'll be disappointed. I'm glad you enjoyed it even if I didn't. If you ever read Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter, let me know what you think of it. I read it so fast the first time through that I picked it back up the next day and read it again. One of my new favorites.
For me, I love Kate Atkinson’s writing style, her overlapping and circling back around was not easy to follow st first but well worth it once it got going. And I loved Beautiful Ruins. I found it entertaining and so clever, not high Lit but well done and the perfect escapist read! Loved the ending. Definitely one I recommend over and over.
Doug, you won't regret it. Just take your time reading it because even the minor characters show up for an encore. This author doesn't leave any loose strings.
PS: Don't forget to put A Gentleman In Moscow & Rules of Civility on your list too. I loved both of them.
