I think it was just the writer's attempt to show the reader that Carrie made it out of the room and survived (while implicating that she killed Richard in the process), and the detail about the money and bank account was just extra details, more or less to show Carrie's gratitude to Lo for "opening her eyes" to Richard's eventual plan.

True Cathy! Why does Lo now not turn over the money as further evidence? Are we to believe that Carrie was justified in taking the money just because Richard was a jerk? It should go to Ann's family!!
Maybe she had Lo's info from her bag in the room, but with her purse and contents stolen earlier, how much info and ID would she have with her?
I would keep it and hush about it too! It's her due! Plus she was Stockholm syndrome-ish with Carrie anyway. She was coming to Carrie's defense when she was talking about her to Judah. Judah would've crucified her.
