Wasn't Divina raped by his father tho? He was ready to rape her underage daughter though, so I don't believe they are imagining things. I don't think the whole town wants Santiago dead, they were fine with him up until this point and were saying that even his killers wouldn't have killed him, because it is suggested that they kind of wanted to be stopped? I don't know about that though, I am just speculating
