YES! The comparison to Egan and The Invisible Circus are perfection.
Right? When I saw Egan's blurb, I wondered if the veteran writer had maybe influenced Cline.
Have you read Tim Johnston? He also reminds of Egan in that I toggle between feeling immersed in the story and the psyche of the characters but popping out now and then to admire the language and relatable descriptions. His books, like Egan's, stay with me. I remember DESCENT like a favorite movie and I tore through THE CURRENT as well. THE CURRENT probably deserves five stars (I give it four) but I can't help comparing it to DESCENT, which is just perfection.
Heading straight over to the library's site to snag Descent...
Yeah, well. Egan comparison. Apt. But that is not exactly laudatory to me.
