Interesting take on the book. Certainly a possibility. I'm afraid that even though I finished it, I was skimming more and more as it progressed...because NOTHING happened.
I just finished the audio version, and my thinking is in line with yours. [ I think the "us" was due to a psychotic break/dissociative split, rather than dissociative identity disorder.] and I enjoyed the hell out of it. definitely a book you want to discuss after reading...but I lurve me a good twist!
I feel this theory. It may have been one of many fantasies he had about leading a normal life, but it was definitely the last. Such a sad story. I've been thinking about it so much.
