Keli I can't truly conceive of the horror of living under a totalitarian system. Just note that even in this bleak work, Orwell has left a glimmer of hope in the appendix.

Twilight  O. ☭ I'm sorry, but if you "don't feel it," you very well still could be living under it. Remember, in 1984, most of the people are okay with how things are! They're not happy, certainly not, but they don't blame the system; they can't blame the system, they've not been taught how to think that way.

Shaun Sad to give an update of Hong Kong situation but it must be mentioned and noted everywhere, that Winnie The Pooh is Big Brother in Hong Kong now.
