AMEN!!!.
I have written a response to this comment twice and stupid backstroke keeps deleting the whole things so to make this short,,
I disagree with this statement. Abuse victims aren't given the opportunity to read a contract outline the terms of the relationship, given time to research the extent of it or given an opportunity to make negotiations. Which is what happens in this book. Ana signs a contract that states she is to be his property for said period of time to do with as he will whenever, wherever and however, she is given a chance to say what she will and will not accept. She is conscenting to the relationship. Abusive victims do not get that luxury.
Having said that keep in mind I haven't finished the book which reminds me, where in chaper five is she taken to a motel and rapped against her will. I am in chapter 13 and that has no happened. So I am not sure what you are referring to.
Nonetheless, I do agree that teenagers and young adults should refrain from reading this book as it can create some blurried line between the difference of a submissive relationship and an abusive one.
While he is a complete control freak, Ana seems completely turned on by him and again can leave the agreement whenever she wants to per the contract.
Also, he provides safewords for her to use when she no longer feels comfortable with what he is doing to her. Again, that is not an option in abusive relationships.
This is my opinion based on what I have read thus far...
I just posted my review on this book and it's mainly about that, the way she talks about BSDM from the point of view of the disorder
