I have tried to read it, but I wasn't really interested that much and lost interest all together. I didn't want to say anything because the series has so much positive reviews that if I say something negative, people will light their torches and get pitchforks. Just look at Emily May's review on Golden Son.

Plus I do somewhat agree that Darrow isn't 100% Gary Stu, and while he makes mistakes, he still manages to triumph in the end. And Don't even get me started on his mentality of him being the chosen one and saving the world when really he needs help and support from the others.

I had friends who told me they didn't enjoy it, and I read both Emily May and Khanh's review on Red Rising and I trust their reviews. So I basically lost interest in the series as a whole.

Well the third book is by far the best, but everyone is different! And if you didn't like it, you just didn't like it. :-) I follow emily May and khans reviews as well, but don't always agree with them and I'm not lighting any pitchforks ;-) if something is not for you, it's hard to get into it no matter how many followers it has.

I have never really been into space setting books. I guess I'm just not sci fi. But thankfully, Red Rising changed that for me and I'm branching out more. Have any good scifi recommendations for me?
