Fionnuala Honestly, I never read a book if I don't like the cover haha. The cover is what attracts you to the book so if the cover isn't appealing I take it as a sign the author didn't try hard enough. Not the case with any of the selection books btw!

piranha @Fionnuala -- For me it also depends on the genre -- with literary fiction, for example, I don't give a hoot for the cover at all because it's usually some minimalist, modern graphic design, and doesn't say anything about the book itself. But in this case the book is supposed to be SF, and a dystopia to boot, and that cover just doesn't do it for me. It's not unappealing per se, but it indicates that it is directed at a very different audience from myself.

Yoelle wait so do u like the series or not??

piranha @Yoelle -- Haven't read it, and remain unlikely to. I can't believe I went on and on about something tangential to the actual book, *heh*, I must have been grumpy about the other answers.

If you read it, I hope you enjoy it.

bookishCoder I typically look at covers before checking out a book. However, the original commenter shouldn’t have posted this at all. If they had read the book, their opinion may be useful to others, but without reading it, their opinions don’t need to be shared. This is just what I think.
