I always thought Alexia could be read as bi, so it's lovely to have that confirmed as authorial intent!
I think that there certain pockets of society in Victorian times that would understand all aspects of human sexuality quite well. I have often thought that it would be ideal to have lived as a wealthy eccentric Victorian aristocrat. Talk about having your cake and eating it too. Of course, on the downside, there was a price to be paid, but there always is.
Adding to this, by the end of Reticence I've decided to canonize all Preternaturals as bi or PAN. Because it's my world and I can.
It's actually referred to by Alexia herself in Romancing the Inventor. In her own words she's "the kind who likes to try every dish at the party".

I thought I was mostly into women and nonbinaries, but then Quesnel happened... I guess it's a (nongenetic) Lefoux thing!
