Omar You need to know a fair amount of Prophet Muhammad's bio and Holy Quran (in Arabic). The translation changes the meaning of the verses. Anyways, . The Satanic Verses was a story developed by nonbelievers to defame Islam and discourage people from converting to Islam. Salman Rushdie was born into a Muslim family, but he had a bad experience with Islam as a child for a plethora of reasons (check out his interviews). I believe that why he's supporting this fallacy. Nevertheless, I still respect him as a great writer and novelist.
