I hadn't realized you'd answered this until now. I read your blog post and it was intriguing. I was surprised you had not been to Cornwall until AFTER you wrote the book-I can't imagine that! ;-). Was that the first time you had gone at all? I fell in love with Cornwall from afar as well and for many of the same reasons-including it's raw and inspiring landscapes. I was 12 when I first read a book set there-it took me about 50 years to get there but I did-and I only wish I could go again. And again. I have just started reading your book, I'm only on the second chapter or so, thus I can't comment yet, but if it is of the same quality of your earlier work or better, I know I will be giving it a very bright five stars! Thanks Kate, and I wish you well. I look forward to reading more of your work and maybe I will see you someday in a bookstore in Cornwall.....
I totally agree, Kate, with the importance of sense of place & you do it so well. I'm also glad to learn about the different processes writers use. I've fallen in love with Cornwall and have yet to visit. But I did experience that instant sense of belonging when I visited Scotland. An almost indescribable gift. Now i want to check out our ancestry to see if that give a clue why. Thanks for writing your stories. You're a gift, too.
