Well said Darren. "Chasing the market" is a lose-lose situation where writing is concerned.
Everytime I think about abandoning my series and writing something "marketable", I read an article like this and go back to what I want to write.
I hear you loud and clear. One could make the argument that fantasy is a difficult genre to crack into, especially if driving big numbers is your goal.
