So pleased to hear that you bought both of these books! And I love that you cover them in contact. It's a beautiful, sunny day here in NYC. I've been reading the new Louise Penny mystery today. She's amazing. So even though I should be out, wandering around and enjoying the weather, I've been inside reading all day. My favorite kind of day. Very curious to hear which of these you read first and what you think. Do let me know. And I'm so glad The Elegance of the Hedgehog and Crossing to Safety were your favorites from the books mentioned in my book. I love these. Happy reading!
A Tale for the Time Being is first.
My daughter chose as she likes all these Japanese. Will let you know what I think. I would like to tell you to put down your book and go outside, but I understand how difficult that can be. So I will only say this, l believe we are here to find happiness, where ever can, so do what makes you happiest.
I have purchased these books as well. How do we, in isolation, find books that mean something, that move us? we seek out the recommendations of those we respect. After reading your book, I know I will find the books you recommend to be thoughtful and demanding (and provide an international perspective, which I truly appreciate). Thank you so much for your book. I was truly moved by it.
Oh I am not surprised you know A Tale for the Time Being! I agree that it is in my top favorites of all time. I think your Mom would have liked it for sure. I have not read The Headmaster's Wager, but I will start it next. I just finished Elizabeth McCracken's memoir and I need to hold on to it for a few days first.
Thank you for the reply!
