Joshua I am sorry but while I do love this series it is no where near as good as the wheel of time. The Wheel of Time feels like real people from nothing raising up. Yes; it feels slow in the beginning but that's because the characters are not who they need to be yet. They where people who had no training or education nor opportunity before now to do anything besides simple townsfolk. They know nothing of courtroom protocol they know nothing of war or swordsplay. They know nothing of the one power.

They could easily have gone the cheapen route rothfuss went with mastering all this with no mistakes in a matter of weeks but instead you see real humans evolving into what they needed to become. Take Matt for example: You say him in the beginning of someone who just rushed through things and not thinking but near the end of the series you see him become patient and calculating but still have his old self.

Meanwhile we are 2/3rds of the way through the name of the wind and kvothe really has not changed much. The character growth is not there. The world is not there. Everything in that series pivots on kvothe while the wheel of time follows multiple people that crisscross along the pattern.

Mike Bassi I totally agree. Name of the Wind >>>> 4 x WoT

Bryce Bruns I'm with Joshua. Wheel of Time is a journey and intimate adventure. Neither of which should be quick or shallow. the character development and growth in WoT is unreal and I haven't seen anything like it.
