This. Cline is pretty straight forward with all his inspirations.
Yeah there is no nefarious plagiarism going on. Armada is an homage to popular sci-fi works that we all know and love.
Ernie's writing is so accessible you feel as though you could have written his books.. if only your sci-fi references were as sick as his. A mark of a good writer to be sure.
That's actually one of the things I liked about this book. It was great hearing all the references (homages?) to the sci-fi books and movies I grew up with.
