I'm going to show my age by saying "that is so cool". Fifty years ago, I too dreamed of a career in the science of volcanoes, but I came up against a professor that felt it was his god-given duty to cull the Men from the boys and girls. That was, of course, before "women's lib", so guess who won? I ended up in computers instead, and had a wonderful world full of great experiences. As just one example, I was on a job in Guatemala teaching computer programming while watching live volcanoes spew steam and ash when Mt. St. Helens blew her cork.
