judith No, the mural wasn't just a diversion to throw us off, it was part of TJ & Barbara's setup to frame John Paul.

Paula The mural was a set up. TJ and Barbara knew that they had to convince the police and the family that Barbara was dead, or they would continue looking for her. They decided to cast suspicion on John Paul. TJ already knew he was a bad guy. Two years before Barbara's disappearance TJ helped Louise recover from the beating he gave her. Tracy painted the mural just before leaving for camp and then put a padlock on the bedroom door so no one would discover it. When she snuck Tracy into her home, it was to show the mural to her friend, so Tracy could inform the police about seeing the mural with the John Paul's initials and that Barbara had told her that she left every night to be with her boyfriend.. That is why Barbara was so upset when she discovered that the mural had been painted over.

judith John Paul was a cad & he hurt Louise, but she didn't press charges or ask TJ & Barbara to interfere. Knowingly framing a man for murder is indefensible.

Kelly The family framed poor Carl for Bear's murder & he went on to have a heart attack. Jean Paul and Allison tried to frame Louise for Barbara's murder. They just needed a diversion until Barabara was safe. Jean Paul had money & his father was a lawyer so it was unlikely he would have been accused without a body.
